From Ah-Ha to Action: Turning Media Insights into A Great Video Strategy

There’s something powerful about a well-run webinar. You show up with curiosity, maybe a notebook and a cup of tea, and before you know it—you’re hit with an ah-ha! moment that lights a creative fire under you.

That’s exactly what happened to me during a recent webinar led by the incredible Rene Syler. We worked together at CBS ”The Early Show” years ago.

If you’re not familiar with Rene, she’s not only an award-winning journalist but also the founder of Pitch Perfect Academy, a platform created to help entrepreneurs and thought leaders craft strong pitches and confidently show up on TV.

Even with my own background as a long-time television producer, Rene’s “Media Access Blueprint” webinar was incredibly informative, timely, and genuinely useful. She didn’t just skim the surface—she broke down the real strategies that work in today’s media landscape and offered clear, actionable steps for getting booked and making your message resonate on screen.

She also gave us something rare: downloadable materials that actually deliver value, not just fluff. These are tools I’ll refer back to again and again.

But here’s the thing.

Attending a great webinar—or listening to a powerful podcast or panel—is just the beginning. The question is:

What do you do with what you’ve learned?

As an Emmy-nominated TV Producer and Video Marketing Strategist, I like to turn those golden nuggets into action.
I write. I teach. I record. I create.

Because what good is inspiration if it doesn’t move you toward transformation?

That’s what inspired this new blog series:
Lights, Camera, Strategy: How to Use Your Video to Get Noticed and Booked on TV

Overlay

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a collection of posts designed to help you use video to show up more confidently and strategically online so you’re ready when the media (or your next big client) comes calling.

Each blog will focus on one key principle of using video to become more visible and more bookable—whether you’re trying to land a media interview, grow your influence, or simply make your message heard.

Here’s a quick preview of what’s coming:

  • Use Strategic Online Video to Get Noticed by TV Producers
  • Develop Irresistible video Story Hooks
  • Leverage Trending Topics in video to Stay Relevant
  • Capture Producer Attention with Compelling Video Story Ideas
  • Coaching vs Consulting

And of course, I’ll include real-world examples and insider tips from my experience as a producer—plus practical takeaways you can implement right away. I’ll also tie in video strategy throughout, because let’s be honest: video isn’t optional anymore. It’s the gateway to trust, connection, and exposure.

So, if you’ve ever attended a webinar and asked, “Now what?”—this series is for you.

Let’s move from idea to execution. From “that was interesting” to “look what I built.”
And let’s do it with clarity, confidence, and maybe a little camera time.

Stay tuned. It’s time to get media ready.
